EDITORIAL: Background checks won’t halt shootings

January7

In their final months in office, presidents typically focus on building a legacy. One way President Obama is doing that is by tightening federal gun laws. While wiping back tears in a Tuesday speech from the White House, he announced several executive actions he claimed would reduce gun crimes, in particular, the kinds of mass shootings seen in San Bernardino on Dec. 2.

Yet as a former federal judge, Andrew Napolitano, pointed out on FoxNews.com, “Congress has expressly removed occasional sales (sales not made by full-time dealers) from the obligation of obtaining federal licenses and from conducting background checks.” Mr. Obama’s attempt to mandate such checks “will be invalidated by the courts,” he predicted.

Whatever happens at the federal level, such checks already are mandated by the state of California. Yet that law did nothing to prevent the massacre at the Inland Regional Center.

Aside from completely banning guns, it’s hard to see how tighter federal or state gun laws would have prevented that tragedy because the primary plotter, Syed Farook – who allegedly got his guns through an illegal straw purchase – was born in Chicago, had nothing in his background to block gun ownership and even worked for the government as a health inspector for the San Bernardino County Department of Public Health.

The state gun-control initiative slated for this November’s ballot includes measures, such as background checks for buying ammo, that also would not have affected the San Bernardino shooting. It is unfortunate that politicians are using such tragedies to advance an agenda that reduces Americans’ Second Amendment right to self-defense with firearms.

Title : EDITORIAL: Background checks won’t halt shootings
Summary – Opinion on how background checks won’t decrease or stop shootings
Impact – This has no impact on Americans, since we have started doing background cheeks on gun buyers the outcome of less shootings has not happened. Background checks are ineffective.
Opinion – I don’t think that stricter gun laws have helped anyone, I believe it has made people madder, we have the right to bear arms that is our amendment. From my knowledge I think that the amount of shootings in America have increased as the laws got tighter and more strict.

Twitter has sent warnings to a number of users that their accounts may have been hacked by “state-sponsored actors”.

December14

Twitter has sent warnings to a number of users that their accounts may have been hacked by “state-sponsored actors”.
It is the first time that the social media company has issued such a warning.
Twitter emailed users to say that the hackers may have sought their email or IP addresses, or phone numbers, which it recently began collecting.
The number of accounts affected by the suspected hack is unclear.
Coldhak, a Canadian non-profit organisation, said it had received a warning from Twitter.
“We believe that these actors (possibly associated with a government) may have been trying to obtain information such as email addresses, IP addresses, and/or phone numbers,” the email stated.
“At this time, we have no evidence they obtained your account information, but we’re actively investigating this matter. We wish we had more we could share, but we don’t have any additional information we can provide at this time.”

The Chinese and North Korean governments are thought to be responsible for some cyber hacking of western companies and governments.
Some IT experts say the hackers who breached Sony’s computer network late last year and leaked huge amounts of confidential information were backed by the North Korean state.
Pyongyang has consistently denied involvement in the security breach.
James Lewis, a cybersecurity expert at the Center for Strategic and International Studies in Washington DC, said that government-backed attackers have far greater resources at their disposal than criminal hacker gangs.
They may be able to use other measures such as human agents or communications intercepts to successfully bypass any security measures, he said.

Impact – This impacts a few twitter fingers because they risk being hacked , but as a world impact this has little to know effect on us , especially for me considering since I don’t even have the app.

Law enforcement training to enforce new open carry law in January

December3

LONGVIEW, TX (KLTV) –
East Texas law enforcement agencies are looking ahead to the first of the new year, when they will have to have set policies on how to deal with
and enforce the new open carry law.

Law enforcement agencies are not sure exactly what effect the new law will have on how they enforce law.

“Actually, it’s a handgun permit, not concealed anymore. People will probably be a little bit alarmed that people are opening carrying their guns,”
says Longview police officer Kristie Brian.

“We don’t currently have a policy in place right now. We are currently sending our deputies to training, so they’ll know how to adequately handle
it on the street,” says Joshua Tubb of the Gregg County Sheriff’s Office.

Workers at places like Longview’s Jack of Pawns say they have seen a few sales of weapons and holsters for open carry, but not many. What’s important, police say, is how the weapon is holstered.

“At least have it in a holster that provides security so it can’t be yanked out of the holster and taken away,” Brian says.

Gregg County Jail daily book-ins show an effort by agencies to get illegal guns off the street; particularly felons in possession of firearms.

“Come across a felon if they have a weapon, then we’re certainly going to take appropriate action. They’ll be arrested for unlawfully carrying a
weapon,” says Brian.

And open carry may assist in that.

“If they do have an illegal firearm , we’ll discover it at that point,” Tubb says.

“Law enforcement faces challenges every day, this is just another hurdle we’ll have to get over,” Brian adds.

The open carry law in Texas goes into effect Jan. 1.

Summary-Law enforcement preparations to the upcoming gun law in January.
Reaction – I can see how this could cause some problems such as “bad” people are going to be permitted to carry guns on them without any sort of restraint. But, the “bad” people where already carrying them before this starred, the only difference is that the good people who want to be safe and previously followed law are now able to openly have a gun. If carrying a gun makes you feel safer then I think it should be allowed, it is our right to bare arms, so really this should not be any different.
World Impact – This is Texas but I think it will have a dramatic effect on the crime , some people may feel safer and others might feel less safe. But the truth is guns don’t kill, people do.

Title – Oregon shooter said to have singled out Christians for killing in ‘horrific act of cowardice’

Summary – Anti-Christ shoots up school , shooting everyone who has christian faith.

World impact – This is important because it shows that there are people out there who will do such cruel evil things like this for reasons unknown, but it also shows the strong people not willing to back down their faith and give in even if the consequences of their actions are death. We need more people like the victims who where shot , stronger, faithful, leaders who’s faith can’t be shaken.

How this effects me ? – Matthew 10:33- but whoever denies me before men, I also will deny before my Father who is in heaven.

Texas Girl Claims To Be Impregnated By Flu Shot

November5

The Truth:

A fake news website is behind this hoax.

World News Daily Report started that rumor with a story headlined, “Texas: 14-Year Old Virgin Falls Pregnant After Flu Shot.” The story reports the girl experienced nausea and severe cramps after receiving the vaccine:

San Angelo, TX | A 14-year old schoolgirl has suffered serious complications after a flu shot allegedly left the young girl terribly ill and with severe cramps, until the family doctor finally realized weeks later she had been impregnated by the vaccine, reports the Forth Worth Telegram this week.

After symptoms persisted several weeks, the distressed mother brought her child to the Whole Womans Health of Forth Worth medical clinic where she was found to be pregnant moments later.

“She was in excellent health beforehand. After a few days she became very unwell, she had all the symptoms of a fever” explains her mother. “It took a good few weeks before she felt better, but the nausea continued. She would throw up every day or so, until eventually we went to see Dr Hersch who realized she was pregnant” she told local reporters, visibly still under shock.

The fake report was quickly shared more than 200,000 times on social media sites. Taken out of context, many readers believed that it was true and questioned the “medical diagnosis” that the girl had been impregnated by a flu shot. One reader commented:

As a former resident of San Angelo who learned all too quickly what kids do for fun as their parents overwhelmingly choose to ignore what’s going on right under their noses, I’m pretty confident this girl got pregnant the traditional way. And anyone who doesn’t consider sex a form of witchcraft knows a girl can become pregnant with the hymen intact. I went to college with three different girls who became pregnant (and were definitely awake during conception) whose mothers (who didn’t know each other) told everyone they were drugged and molested at frat parties, if that tells you anything.

But the girl wasn’t impregnated by a flu shot or “the traditional way” because World News Daily Report is known for publishing fake news reports that trick readers into believing they’re true.

According to the website’s disclaimer, it assumes “all responsibility for the satirical nature of its articles and for the fictional nature of their content.”

Summary – The teen girl claiming to be impregnated by flu shot is found a scam.

Reaction – It is hard to belive that people even thought this was and or is slightly true, it is so hard to grasp why people thought this was true. I can’t imagine how this lie affected her family.

World Impact – Considering since numorous people belived this to be true must show that our world is pretty gullable and will trust everything they see or here on news or media to be true. I think that is leaving us vonurable and gullable.
